On September 19, 2020, the inaugural ceremony of the Global Science and Technology Innovation Think Tank Forum of ZGC Forum (hereinafter referred to as the “ZGCTA") sponsored by the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the "BJAST") and the ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance was held at the Conference Center of the ZGC Science Park Exhibition Center.
At the ZGC Global Science and Technology Innovation Think Tank Forum, 12 leaders and experts from various institutions participated in the inaugural ceremony of the ZGCTA. The 12 participants are Du Feizin, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department; Li Ping, Party Group member of the Ministry of Science and Technology and president of the Science and Technology Daily; Zhai Lixin, director of ZGC Administrative Committee; Zheng Huanmin, president of the BJAST; Liang Yingda, secretary of the Party Committee of the China Academy of Science and Technology for Development; Yang Renquan, member of the Party Group, deputy director and spokesperson of the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission; Li Fugen, deputy director of the China Internet Information Center (CIIC); Chi Fulin, president of the China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD); Zhang Jianyu, vice president of the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and chief representative of the Beijing Representative Office; Zhao Hong, vice president of the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences (BASS), Gan Chunhui, vice president of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) and Fu Zhengping, vice president of the Institute of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Development Studies, Sun Yat-sen University.
Leaders and experts of institutions from 9 countries, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, Japan, Israel, Austria, and Serbia, exchanged ideas and opinions on themes of " Global Economic Development Trend and Cooperation in the Post-COVID Era" and "Innovation, Cooperation, Win-Win – New Missions of Think Tanks in Globalization Era", providing new concepts, new ideas and new thoughts for global science and technology innovation and social development, and contributing global wisdom to the construction of National Center for Science and Technology Innovation.
ꦿThe year 2020 was a special year. The COVID-19 pandemic spread across the world, human life and health have been severely threatened and normal work and life activities have been greatly disturbed, not to mention its devastating impact to the global economic development. In an effort to overcome the difficulties in economic and social development, we are badly in need of the voices from science and technology innovation think tanks and the sincere cooperation of global think tanks. The establishment of the ZGCTA will build a platform of cooperation and exchange for the think tanks to discuss the development trend of frontier science and technology, future industry, global innovation rules and innovation governance, which will surely contribute new ideas, new perspectives and new countermeasures for global innovation governance.
